Working as associate editor of SHADY AVE magazine. RESEARCH

Graduate Research Assistant, University of North Carolina Department of Marine Sciences, Morehead City, N.C., Research focused on understanding the effects of light and nutrient uptake on phytoplankton growth in the Neuse River Estuary, where nutrient pollution and other environment conditions lead to harmful algal blooms (Aug 1998—Jan 2000).

National Science Foundation Grant, Research Experience for Undergraduates, University of Delaware Graduate College of Marine Studies, Lewes, Del. Designed and completed initial stages of project to develop molecular tracers of sinking chitin particles in bacterial assemblages from Delaware Bay Estuary (Summer 1997).

Research Assistant, University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Health, Department of Human Genetics, Pittsburgh, Pa. Used molecular biology techniques to investigate the genetic basis of parathyroid cancer (Summers 1995, 1996).
